South Central Illinois is blessed with an abundance of well-educated, skilled and trainable workers. A recently completed area workforce assessment identifies the South Central Illinois Growth Alliance labor shed as a total civilian labor force of approximately 180,510 people including residents from all or portions of Bond, Clinton,  Fayette, Marion, and Washington Counties as well as eleven neighboring counties in South Central Illinois.  The Pathfinders of Dallas, Texas, a site selection consultant to many of America’s largest corporations identified 29,800 workers as underemployed—those individuals who would take a better job if offered by a new or existing employer and who possess the skills, education, and experience to qualify them for a better job.  Over 67% or 19,800 of these underemployed individuals have some college experience and can be readily trained to meet your needs.
